ok...putting the whole messing with the tempering aside, I think we really need a clearer shot of the edge. If possible, take it outside, no flash, macro setting on, and zoom in. That is a very rough grind and shouldn't be hard to smooth out. If you want, you can smooth it out with sand paper and mousepad like mentioned. Just lay the sandpaper on top and strop away, the softness of the mousepad will conform to the edge and smooth it out.
