(though there def. is the possibility of HT damage)

I personally don't like my SY's to have thin of an edge (especially ones that big) because they see some abuse and are more prone to edge deformation than some other steels.

And I WOULD NOT worry about the warranty if i was you, that's for sure.
I would think (and hope) Dan would take care of you if anything were to happen.

other than that, I say use some hand methods and work on it some more.
