His other option, the R9 also has a choil. It makes me think that he's talking about something different.
I get that feeling too, I've seen differences in how the res-c meets the handle on a couple different B4LE's I've had. It seems as though they don't all come out the same when fitting the handles, but it's very slight from what I can tell.
