speaking of never learning, i'm tryin to teach my mother to keep her expenses with ms excel. at least we had grilled porterhouse t-bone steaks for dinner.
Here is a suggestion.
Print out the spreadsheet with grid lines and have her start with a pencil to fill in the amounts...like a check book. Then move her to the computer and only show her how to add and delete numbers. Write these direction down in big printed letter and lay them out on a cheat sheet in bulleted form. Its all about Baby steps...once the fear is gone the learning is easy.
