We've done this before guys! The time has come once again!

A good man has to deal with the pain of vacating his home. To make it worse, he has to watch his family deal with it as well. On top of all that, they have to do it while watching the rest of the world enjoy the holidays.

None of us here can't see how much that sucks. When we tried this for Gravelface, we had fewer members here on the board and still managed almost 30 contributors. The DFLE's quite a bit more than the Dumpster Mutt was, but if the same 30 people come back, it's already below $7.

Let's demonstrate why the yard is the best forum out there and why this community rocks with a small gesture to brighten up dark times. We'll follow the same procedures, since it went so smoothly last time.

Here's the thread for a little inspiration. inspiration.

Sign up, we'll see how many we get before the release, divide the price by that number and pool to paypal. We'll make deadline for signup a few hours before they go on sale. More details will have to follow, so watch the forum.

Please don't send more than the agreed amount! Returning everyone's remainders is a pain! Right now we're looking at including a sheath and with the 27 we alrady have, total should be around $10 each. Without the sheath, we're currently at [color:"orange"]no more money! [/color], including paypal fees. I'll recalculate as more volunteer.

I can't think of a more deserving member or a better knife to give him. POP really likes the big shiny knives like that ATS-34 one he has and his positive attitude has really made an impression on me and apparently a few other forum members.
I think this is a great tradition and really shows what the Yard is really like.
I think POP deserves a lot of credit for making the Yard the place it is.
I am thankful for the chance to show POP how much I admire and respect him.

i wouldn't feel right adding that to the price. these people volunteered for the price of a dog father le, and though many would be willing, i would hate to force the few who aren't into doing it out of a sensation of guilt/obligation/keeping up appearances. how bout after we break 30, if we do, a cut of the contributions go toward a sheath. i'd say a kydex from dave, as it's functional at a good price, and if we make more than enough, we'll see about fancy leather from either of our star sheath makers.

It just seems that PoP does prefer leather by a long shot, so we should go leather or bust.

Guys I hate to be a party pooper, but I just wouldn't feel right taking money from anybody for this cause for a sheath. I understand and appreciate the jesture, but PoP's my friend and I just cannot imagine myself profiting in any way from the kind jesture being done for PoP. I know that PoP is a customer of mine too but that's different.

i don't want anyone contributing twice. either we cut a share of the cash for the sheath or we cover rainwalker's share. that still doesn't cover his investment in the sheath.even if he makes a $100 sheath, once we get thirty that's only $10 each. i think we'll hit 30 by wednesday morning.

also, i think i need to set a more definite deadline for signups and the second deadline for sending funds.

i think wednesday morning for signing up and wednesday afternoon for sending money. maybe 10AM and 5PM, eastern. sound okay? all the money should be in by the time i get home, around 6:30PM eastern. that won't give me much time to hunt down and PM anyone who doesn't send funds, so please stay on top of things.

Ah, I'm afraid I must disagree. It's important to start learning how to manage money early. If you make mistakes now it's not as bad as when you are supporting yourself or have a family to support.

Seriously, get a checking and savings account. It will make a difference in the future.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to participate (or even get a DFLE myself) but I had some debts repaid, so I have enough to get me one, and help PoP too. $ sent.

Don't risk the double order if you don't hear from PoP. Get two on the first pass and either re-ship from your place (with some of the bonus contribution), or straighten it with Patti in a note after the order is in. I'm sure she'll be more than willing and able to make sure this goes down without a hitch.

I am still in shock over this. My nerves are just gone. I have developed a tremor in my hands when idle. My stomach hurts inside constantly. Sleep comes in snatches. Prayer is in every idle moment. Even when I roll over in a hazy sleep at night I quickly start to pray until I fall asleep again.
