My first wife left me the day after Christmas of 1999. I hated Christmas for a long time after that, wouldn't even have done Christmas if it wasn't for the kids. That would make you sour on it.

I sent out about a dozen cards this year, other than that I didn't do anything except for my two kids.

Yeah, tell me about it! Didn't care about taking the kids, or anything like that. But she made sure to take her jewelry, including that ring, her Princess House stuff and my Trans Am. I did get it back in the middle of the night about a week later, when I found out she was out with her boyfriend at a nightclub in town.

Yeah, it is. I'd probably have went to jail had I known where she was the first couple nights she was gone. After I thought about it, I realized she'd probably given me the best Christmas present I ever got. Just took a long time to get to that point.

Well when my Mother passed away in 85 Christmas became just another day but not a sad day just an ordinary day. The whole marketing thing is bad but not enough to ruin a day where our family gets together to remember the days of our youth and those members of our family that are no longer with us. We don't have children of our own so there is none of the gimme gimme and I want this or that going on, we usually buy what we want for ourselves throughout the year but still try to buy some small things for each other.
