GREAT pics! we call those stag beatles 'June Bugs'. Cause they show up every June, and before August is over, one flies into you and knocks you off your bike while youre doing 45 down the road. Those things hit like bullets.
Hmmm...you sure that's the same bug? From what I read, stag beetles are pretty rare to find. I've only come across a couple in my life. Here's a
pic of what we call a June Bug here. (not my pic) It's smaller than a stag beetle, and doesn't have the pincers. We have June bugs all over the place here too starting in May or so.
