Got room for me and the wife????? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I wish that I was exaggerating with those stories, but I'm not.
My best all time winter story dealt with a move.
I was living in Prince George (the -53F place), and was moving to Kamloops (the
town that I live in now). Kamloops is about 300 miles south of Prince George.
The night before I was supposed to move it started to snow. By the morning, it had dropped 3 feet
of snow. Took me 3 hrs to dig out the driveway. About noon, I was able to get
on the highway.
By the time I had travelled 70 miles, I was in whiteout / blizzard conditions.
The only way that I knew where I was, was that I was following a transport truck.
If he would have driven off the road, I would have happily followed.
Conditions cleared up after 50 miles or so, and by the time I got to Kamloops
I was surprised to see that they only had a 1/2 inch of snow on the ground, and it was
so warm that I was walking around in my shirtsleeves.
Phoned my grandmother in Prince George to let her know that I was ok.
It had dropped another 3 feet of snow during the day, so they had a little over 6 feet in one day.

That was the late 70's, though and lots has changed since then.

Cheers.

Worked outside all day in 23F. Nothing compared to you Canadian fellows, but still cold for my taste.

Here we were at -22C (-8F) with a Wind Chill Warning in effect.
Tomorrow I'm going to take a picture of the snow bank in front of my place
and post it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

On Friday, my boss got fed up with winter, went out and put insurance on his
motorcycle. Now, you have to picture this, we have a whole chunk of snow,
and he wants to go riding.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I love the cold. I am heading out backpacking in the UP later this week. I can't wait! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

That is soooo cool.
I actually love winter weather as well. If I get a chance this coming week,
or over Christmas, I'm going to make one of those quinzee's.

Oh, and the best thing about Winter??? NO BUGS <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

KN, have you ever had to UNTHAW your vehicle engine with a Tiger torch????
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I have <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Took almost a full 25lb tank of Propane before the oil was thawed out enough to
allow the engine to start turning over <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I use a block heater and use 5/30 engine oil never had a problem no matter what temp was, oil pressure comes right up. The only time I have ever had any problems was when I would forget to plug in my block heater.

Exploding noses, blizzards, igloos/quinzee's...It's like fantasy fiction! Or better yet, sci-fi stories of distant planets and crazy yeti-like creatures. Our bugs die to lack of water (One day of rain a year.) Chihuahua's get pampered by cute californian girls...

Ouch! On a happy note, you're almost to pooch. I'm trying to break the record for most posts in a single sitting.
