Then I'm glad Tom posted first, Chris. IMO, there's more than enough justification to keep this thread alive. And Tom's "chill out" instruction seems to have gotten the job done very nicely.

As we've discussed before, I hope you use thread locking only as a last resort. You've got a lot of tools at your disposal for maintaining order here. In most cases, issuing a simple warning and removing offending posts if necessary should be sufficient to get your point across. That way you don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Unless an offense is so grievous that immediate action is called for, perhaps you and Tom could talk it over before either of you decide to lock a thread.

Please don't take these comments as an attempt on my part to challenge your authority. That is NOT my intention. However you decide to moderate this forum is fine with me. I'm simply trying to provide some food for thought.

Thanks for your consideration. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

We have discussed a number of things over the last while Bruce. If folks want to derail threads to this point then action will be taken. Dragging a thread so far off base in this manner is a grievous offense.

As I clearly stated, had Tom not already posted this thread was done for. I am not going to spend hours trying to sterilize it. I would rather leave the posts so folks can understand why it was locked.

At what point do you believe serious actions should be taken when warnings continue to be ignored multiple times?
