I have to agree, I always though machetes should be pretty cheap, and I don't think one of sr77 would have many advantages over a simple one made of 1095.

A quick web search indicates that S7 is readily available in 0.125" thickness plates. The actual price is more mysterious. The only place I can actually get a dollar amount is a company that specializes in small quantity orders, and a single piece of S7 that is 0.125" thick by 3" wide by 36" long costs a mind-bubbling 136$ (if you can live with your machete only being 2 inches wide, the cost drops to 100$). I'm sure that buying the metal in bulk from an actual foundry would be a lot cheaper (and less wasteful since they could make whatever length you want), but they all want me to submit a form to get a price quote.
