Look at the way swords were carried throughout history by people who depended on them.

Pretty much the only swords carried on someone's back was stuff like claymores, that was too long to be attached to a hip.

I think for the Skizzy or Waki, the way Samurais wore their swords, or the way cavalry sabers were worn would be ideal. Which means a cross draw, hanging from your hip at an angle, edge up or down.

While the Samurai way is probably the most efficient in how fast you can have a sword ready (the art pretty much consist of being able to draw your sword and slice your opponent in one motion), a cavalry saber type sheath is probably less "in your face".

I would say make a sheath that will allow the attachment point to pivot on your belt, so it can hang straight when you're walking, but can be angled when you need to draw it. Something hanging down your leg is more likely to be ignored than a long thing crossing your midsection and hanging out to the side.

Maybe a nice leather sheath in a neutral color with denim inlay for better camouflage? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'll stop overthinking it at this point..
