Would o1 bad steel for your knife? Your description sounds very nice to me. I was already picturing the NMSFNO before you mentioned it, though I prefer a more tappered point.
O1 would be fine Toast and may be what I decide to use. I like S30V alot but it would be more difficult to maintain out in the woods. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> O1 sharpens easy and if you keep it clean and dry (oiled) it won't rust as bad as some others.
