I feel and know in my heart every dog I have ever owned was literally part of my family. I would give the same effort to save my dogs as I would to save my sister. Of course offspring would take precedence, but I would risk my life to save my dog.

I do not believe humans are superior to dogs. Humans are smarter, but that in no way makes them better creatures. It makes us worse in many circumstances.
