Thanks Monsterdog Yes it is a different gas block with a rod/piston leading back to a special BCG other than that it is just a "normal" AR setup. They sell adaptor kits to convert a standard AR into a piston setup and with those you get everything you need. piston kits It is variable for suppressor use also.

Have you looked into 300 AAC Blackout as an alternative to 7.62x39 (which you mentioned in an earlier post that you want to build)? Seems it would be a lot cheaper to build (though maybe not to shoot), and I heard there are magazine problems with the 7.62x39 stuff in the AR platform.
