You should really consider the D700. It is more expensive, but the sensor is 4 times as big. I'm not taking about MP. I am talking about light capture. It owns the night. check out dpreviews and do a side by side with the 300. You'll see the MP isn't that much bigger, but the sensor sis mammoth comparatively.

Haven't thought about it that way, but you're right. The full frame cameras would bring my old wide angle lenses back too, right now they're pretty much useless.
