Yeah I like my RMD so much I never use it, kinda saving it for some special trips !!!

I just recieved another great knife yesterday so will be seeing how this compares with my Rat's and Dog's !

British Columbia is a nice place HD. Pitman lives in the wet part of the
province though. Inland, it's quite a bit drier. Semi arid desert where
we are. Lots of pine and fir trees, sand, bears and rattlesnakes here
where we are.

I'm going to make a thread with some pictures of lakes and rivers in our
area over in the Outdoor forum to show the region a little bit.

Thanks for the pic, and the new technique. I have more fatwood than I can ever use, but I still find myself reluctant to burn it for some reason. I guess I treat it as some kind of sacred idol because its so perfect for fire starting.

And i know what you mean about cougar tracks. I was recently on a late evening walk at the snowy woods near my house. A walked to a nice viewpoint about 20 minutes from the house, and as I retraced my steps I noticed a fresh set of cougar tracks that hadn't been there on the outbound trip. I had just finished reading Tom Brown's Wilderness Survival Field Guide (which I highly recommend), so my first reaction was to geek out over the tracks. About 30 seconds later my common sense kicked in and I trotted back to the house. Needless to say, I was glad to gave brought my high-powered flashlight and DMDC with me

LOL C&D....tracking a Cougar's recent tracks with a torch and a Dumpster Mutt at night...good on you...they are unpredictable at night if hunting...the scary thing is when you see the scrathes on the tree trunk and realise it might be above you...ofcourse it could just be marking it's territory as well...the torch would be more effective than the DM though at keeping you safe...I like a shotgun for wood walks like that!! It steadies the nerves....

Thanks for making me smile.
We've had a double shock here today.
Found out just after lunch that a friend had passed away, then about
15 minutes later got a call from my mom to say that my aunt has been
diagnosed with lung and bone cancer.

Anyway, thanks again for making me smile.
