Sheesh... Tough one.

I have an Dogfather, Yard Hook, and Dumpster Mutts.

I also have an RD4, RD7, and RD9.

That being said - they're both great knives made by great people.

Scrapyard steel is going to be a little tougher maybe. I'm not a steel expert, but the Busse proprietary heat treatment is the best in the industry.

Both knives have an unconditional lifetime warranty - so breaking them isn't really an issue!

The ResC is great. Very comfortable. You're lacking the skullcrusher pommel obviously, and the different handle options that come w/ Ranger.

The scrapyard crinkle coat finish holds up better than Ranger. You can get Satin finish Rangers for +20 though, which is nice. Gotta take care of them through because they rust fairly quickly if not protected.

Justin does semi-customs cheap. A very good deal.

You won't really notice a whole lot of difference between the .25" vs .285 - a little but not much. Negligible I'd say.

Ranger comes w/ a decent sheath included in the price.

Its really going to come down to a matter of preference as far as the options go. ResC is amazing, then again, Micarta is very nice too. Someone that you might PM if he doesn't reply is "Horn Dog" - he's got an S6 and an RD6 - I have neither, but have a number of knives from both.

You might just want to get one of each <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Or - maybe wait a week or two since there is an "impending" release from Scrapyard on the way... probably something that will be midsized like you're looking for in there (supposedly 3 knives being release, after a bunch of military orders - so the odds of something 5-7 inches are high).
