Hello, all! I hope this is an appropriate question for this forum. I'm a newbie here, lookin' for some advice and feedback that I was unable to produce from the forum Search function:

--As an all-arounder, how does the Scrapyard Scrapper 6 compare in handling, function, capabilities and properties to the Ranger Knives RD6, as I am looking to purchase the one or the other--the S6 obviously from eBay or a Blade Forum member.

Of course, any other recommendations and why you recommend them in reference to the two blades are more than welcome. What is your preference? Where do you think each excels, in reference to the other? It appears that many of you have both the Scrap Yard and Ranger Knives, which is why I am posting my question on this forum.

I'll admit I prefer the look of the S6 and the idea Res-C, but I'm concerned about the extreme blade thickness. Before discovering the Scrap Yard, I really thought 0.25" thickness was as thick as I'd ever want to go in a knife. However, the S6 seems as close as I can get to the original Res-C Swamp Rats, which I discovered woefully two late.

I like the deep belly of the RD6, and in other forums some suggest that 5160 may hold an edge better than S7/SR-77, but none confirm it with experience. I have no doubt that each can take a pounding.

How about their ability (or ability to be modified) for cutting and slicing, within reason for knives of this size?

Thanks for your input.

Kevin
