Wow what a great bunch of photos. It is really cool having some of your grandfathers military bayonets. Both my grandparents on my Moms side served in WW2 but don't have anything but a few photos. The pocket knives are definitly military issue as well. Some really fine emery cloth would work but be careful to only take off the orange rust not the patina.

Most No4 bayonets in WW2 were the cheap spike ones so you had to really need a blade before you ended up with a good bayonet.

Here is a very patinad Ross bayonet from WW1 and a great book on the subject(WW1 not patina).[Linked Image from i529.photobucket.com]

I really liked a couple of those Muelas. That is Boker's South American brand.
They have had companies and people in SA since before the first world war which is why all the war criminals went there but it is also why they make good knives.
They also have the Gaucho culture where a big sheath knife is the equivalent of the US Cowboys Peacemaker.

I particularly liked the Rebco(staghandled) and the colbri. No nonsense little users with nice natural handle material. I would love the IBEX with some different handle material like Stag. It would make a good companion blade for your DFLE which by the way is quite the upgrade from that ugly ring handled one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
