Anyone want to compare the Ash-1 to a SOD?
I can only compare the SOD with a Skinny ASH:
SOD advangages:
weight approx.445g
has a slightly better edge profile and factory sharpness (at least for normal use)
the spine is thicker, but the edge profile makes it cut like a thinner blade
twice as good as the Skinny ASH-1 for chopping
the handle fits the hand better than that of the Skinny ASH-1
Skinny ASH-1 advantages:
weight approx.420g
Holds a better edge (for heavy use the difference is not much, for normal cutting the difference is considerable)
The end of the handle can be hammered without being worried.
more pleasant to keep it in the hand (I don't know why - it simply inspire more trust)
The pictures are a bit older (my SOD is now a lot more weared <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )
