royalm, how would you go about doing that mod? If it was built in micarta, then you could drill out the pins and do that, but not sure how you are going to bring the finger guard back with the res-c. Maybe cutting the tang shorter and res-c (for finger guard) and glue it all back together? It does look good though.
My thinking was I would 'texture' the Muddy handle to provide a good surface for Tooldip to bond to. If need be I would remove the Muddy handle down to a tang and just keep dipping until I have a thick handle. Either way I would build up enough dip that I could then sand it down to a little under the profile I want. Then one last coating of dip to give a smoother finish.
Possibly if I strip a handle back to the bare tang then I might need to do a paracord wrap and bulk out areas with the cord then when it comes to dipping it should take several thin even coats to give me the handle I want. Maybe some sanding required and a finishing dip to.
I will hold my hands up and say that I have used dip before but not to this extent. Just on chisel handles where it was a plain in and out dip.
This is all speculation though as i'm betting the knife will be a pretty good in hand so I might not need to do anything.
Just need to know when, and how much this bad boy is going to cost....................... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
