Same here - I'm 6'2 and 230lbs - I CAN run far, and I can run fast, but I can't run far AND fast!! The Army wants me at like 190. You'd have a hell of a time getting me to lose 40 lbs. I've NEVER busted tape though. I might right now - but I'll be good by May <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

We are almost in the same boat I am 6'1" and 238....I was down to my 190 for a while there...I looked sick! Military needs big people to carry crew serve weapons dismounted and fellow soldiers.....take a 150lb guy add his vest and gear...now is probably pushing 200+

The most I ever ran that count was across a street....not down it!

My favorite NCO ever - SGT O'Sullivan - Combat proven, big burly dude - probably 6'2 and 275 - big old boy. Passed his PT test every time. Barred from Re-enlistment cuz he was flagged for being overweight/tape. I always told him, "You know brother, if we go to the sandbox, I'd want your @$$ carrying me out if I get hit - not one of those tiny 300+ 'PT Studs.'" Army has been shooting themselves in the foot with his height and weight crap - if you pass your PT test, it shouldn't matter how big you are. "Military appearance," who really cares? I didn't know it was a beauty contest... I'll take a break from my rant!

I am with you on this Dice. My old Gunny was the stockiest big boned guy I ever meat and he could run a perfect PT every time in his late 30's. He was always at least 10 pounds over weight. The Navy in their archaic ways uses a tape measure system to determine body fat and they used this system to determine that he had 22% body fat?! He was almost kicked out. This warrior had a six pack! He went on his own to an Air Force facility where they use water and calibers for body fat testing like modern science does and he came out at 9% and our Unit was still arseholes to him. He is now a CWO-3 and has seen three combat tours and is still juking and jabbing, but every few years he gets f-ed with! Crazy days!
