I have been toying with buiding a descreet hunting rifle in .17 HMR. That could be a very low signature "urban sniper" rifle within about 200 meters. But then, I'm just an old squirrel hunter and rimfire silhouette shooter. There was a guy at the gun club who was consistenly punching holes in a small propane cylinder at 300 meters. No bull. 300 meters with a .17 HMR. I was impressed. He didn't even use a heavy barrel. It was a CZ sporter with a 6-20 40mm scope. I could hardly believe it myself.
