I don't have any expereience with the SIG 556.

There are so many options out there for the AR platform and they are so darn easy to work on that it's tough for me to stray from that platform for "modern" type rifles.

I like the piston driven uppers that I have seen, but to be honest, I don't think the AR15 gas system presents any significant issues for my needs.
