If I had to take one knife with me during TEOTWAWKI it would definitely be my SWKW Chopweiler.
However, I think the design could be improved upon.
BLADE: The Chopweiler blade is 7.5" x 0.25". I'd like to see a 10" x 0.333 version with a very high saber grind (1/4" of flat near the spine).
EDGE: Standard V.
HANDLE: Flare out the very end of the pommel a little to permit use as an improvised hammer. I'd like a 3/8" wide flat area with milled in jimping.
THE REST: Standard Chopweiler.
I'm going to cheat now, and say my 10" Chopweiler should be sold with a Piggyback compatible Bush Craft knife:
BLADE: SR101 Full 5" x 3/16" Full Flat Grind Drop Point.
* I'd want a fairly deep bellied blade as well.
* I'd want a thumb ramp with jimping.
* I'd want a round choil with the cutting edge stopped at a 45 degree angle as to not score the finger while in the choil.
HANDLE: Paper.
On to the Sheath....
TYPE: Piggyback.
POCKETS: All pockets made with full width closure flaps, and secured with Mil-Grade Hook & Loop (velcro).
1) POCKET A (Large Pocket): Sized for a 3"x4"x1/4" sharpening stone, AMK 2 Person Space Blanket (folded in half).
2) POCKET B (Same size as A but not as deep. This pocket would be between POCKET A and the Sheath to protect the contents): Sized for a Silva Starter Compass.
3) POCKET C (1/2 of POCKET A size and located below POCKET A): Sized for a LMF Army Model Firesteel AND Bic Classic butane lighter.
4) POCKET D (1/2 of POCKET A size and located below POCKET A): Sized for a single AA battery powered LED flashlight and Fox40 Micro Whistle
5) POCKET E (3/4 of POCKET A and located below C & D): Sized for a bottle of water purification tablets and the filter component of an AquaMira Frontier Filter straw.
6) POCKET F (covering remaining portion of sheath at bottom): Sized to allow 110yds of fishing line, 25-50 No.2 hooks, and 10 BB sized split sinkers.
7) POCKET G (located on BACKSIDE of sheath / toward the body): Sized for a USAF polished stainless steel signaling mirror. This would be a "slip pocket without a lid, and position against the body to prevent accidental "flashes" in a E&E scenario.
OTHER FEATURES:
1) GROMMETS: Grommets around perimeter designed to allow 7-Strand 550 Paracord to be looped around behind the sheath (as to not interfere with the front pockets).
MATERIAL: .090" kydex inside two-layer 1000D Cordura sewn with bonded thread, etc.
ATTACHMENT: MOLLE and reinforced belt loops.
