My custom rigged (by me) mini-MAV chest rig:

I wanted a very light veyr small chest rig for those days when i dont need my HSGI Warlord 4 "wilderness escape" load out. Some days i just want to go for a woods walk and i dont need all the wilderness gear, axe, and chopper.

So i bought a Tactical Tailor MINI-MAV chest rig panel, put a Mag pouch on it, and a 6" x 4" x 1.5" thick zippered pouch, all mounted with malice clips. I then removed the zipper pulls and put paracord in so they wouldn't jangle.

Added a bungee cord and ball lock on the MAG pouch to keep my Powerbars in while running. (yes the mah pouch is for the Powerbars, i can stuff 3 in there, more than enough calories for a woods walk).

Clipped my Surefire L4 Lumamax to the Molle webbing, and secured it with a bungee and ball lock. Inside the zippered pouch is a SILVA compass with signal mirror, fire steel and Vaseline coated cotton balls for emergency fire starting, couple bandaids and a pressure dressing, heat sheet or garbage bag, 2 SF CR123 batts, small rite in the rain notebook and pencil and a small topo map of the area i'm hiking in. Also have a ACR signal whistle.

Behind the pouch I bungee'd a Becker BK11, handle up. In my pockets i carry my ZT200 folder as well.

Total weight of the rig and gear is 1.5 lbs. It sticks out less than 2" and is nice and low profile. Originally I had a MilsSpec Monkey admin pouch on the chest panel, bit it was heavy and stuck out the front too much. I can fit more into the pouch and it weighs nothing. I could also pare down the weight and swap the L4 light for the SF E1L Outdoorsman light, its one cell and smaller.

here is the mini chest rig with a few more mods: added some clips to the Molle panel and clipped my lanyard to it, weaved it behind the pouch and clipped the excess with another clip to the Mag pouch. Also shown is the smaller single cell SF EL1L Outdoorsman light.

if some of you recall, on my HSGI Warlord chest harness, i had the SOD tucked away behind the main panel. With this little mini harness, i simply move my SOD to my belt. I dont mind going light, but i AWLAYS have a chopper!
