The Judaic law tried to teach justification by adherence to the law. It was designed to show that no one could of themselves keep all the commandments all of the time. A series a sacrifices were built in to show that our violations of divine law must be paid for in strict measure: ie the shedding of innocent blood. That transgressions were not to be lightly dealt with but were of the most serious nature.
