I think that Dan sticking to sr77 only would just be close minded knife making.
why ONLY make super tough hard use knives, when you can have both ends of the spectrum?
I think the 154cm knives up hold Dan's promise of "maximum performance to price ratio" very well and he should continue to produce them.

but!
to each their own.

So how does this translate to Busse Combat in terms of conversation? Is Jerry making straight INFI knives somehow "close-minded knife making"?

It's not about being "close-minded".

If either brother (or anyone for that matter) was making things or using materials they didn't want to in order to make others happy, then hopefully there's a good reason... like sustaining a business.

I respect that. I mean, how many legit films have I made compared to the wedding videos I had to do when I was starting out? Often you have to do what you have to do.

However, if Dan or Jerry wanted to make kitchen knives made of 440 stainless, that's what they should do. Not because it's demanded of them, but because they own knife companies and enjoy making knives and they do what they love everyday.

How many of us can say that?

If Dan doesn't want to make kitchen knives or use 154cm, then he most likely won't.

We need to stop thinking that the artists we admire "owe" us something.

They don't.

If he thinks it's a good idea, that's cool with me... even though it shouldn't matter what I think.
