Maybe the cult thing is because itīs something a bit exotic from your point of view? Mora is made in a distant northern country by Swedish blade wizzards with their special steel recipes and magical hammers... Or something like that?
When i was growing up most boys got one of those old red wooden handled moras as their first fixed blade. Mainly because they were cheap and not bad quality. I've broken a number of them when younger (yes abusing them, but I know what they can do) I think the anti China feelings in the USA help the mora myth
