Have had a 3" and 3.5" 1911 and neither would run 100% even after tuning by renown smiths. Am a firm believer in 4" or better on the 1911.
I agree completely but have never had anything smaller than my kimber pro cdp. I was at Novak's 45 shop once and he was explaining to me once you shorten the barrel under 4" it tends to start causing problems, I figured he would know.
