I would never buy any Cold Steel. They don't make knives, they are a marketing company. LT is a blowhard snake oil salesman. The bottom line is all important, and they cater primarily to the ignorant. They steal designs, they cut corners.
There are simply too many superior knife makers around to ever give a cent to them.
True CS is a marketing Co however how many are there in this country?
LT is arrogant and you could put him in the class of snake oil salesman. I believe in his previous life he was a realestate salesman.
As far as stealing designs well he is probably no more guilty than many other knife makers over the years. Even tho the convex edge is sometimes call the Moran edge he did not invent it. It's been used for centuries if not longer.
Warncliff did not invent the Sheepsfoot/modified sheepsfoot design. The vikings were carying knives and swords of this design 1100 years ago. What they did do is to revive it plain and simple.
Some claim that he "stole " the tanto point design from I believe Bob lume which may or may not be the case. Again while I can't cant put my finger on it at the moment I seem to remember that point design on a ancient Japanese weapon.
CS started producing very good quality and showing you what they could do. Nothing at all wrong with that however, they have gone of on a tangent producing unusual items rather that focusing on the main line. As a result the main line is well totally obsolete. Other knife companies such as the busse group did what LT could not do that is slowly improve the product while maintaining a high degree of Integrity.
CS is an odd company that will no doubt go out of business one day but in the mean time they do make some unusual items that are fun to play with.
The Busse group is without question the goto company for serious fixed knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
