Has anyone here done skinning with a 3/16" blade? How much difference will that make vs a blade of 1/8"?

Are you kidding? There are lots of good skinning knives with blades 3/16" and thicker. The Bucks are that thick. Bark River has some skinning knives, like the Gameskeeper that are .21" thick. Many of the old Marbles knives and Solingen hunting knives are thick. As tall (wide) as the Scrap Muk is, with a full flat grind, it should do very well, with a good edge. Of course, a thinner blade is easier to sharpen, but may lack the strength for some chores. My Grohmann is 5/32" thick. I deliberately ordered it with the optional flat grind so I could get a finer edge. I think the Scrap Muk will do fine for skinning and a whole lot more. Yes I have skinned with knives that thick. Dan skinned a deer with a Scrapper 6.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
