To me choils are for condensing hot gasses, or heating liquids with a minimum of linear space.

On knives...meh, just a looks thing.

Honestly, a hatchet/machete and a pocket knife are all the utility anyone needs.
These knives are purdy and bring out the knuckle dragger in us, that's why they sell.
