Up here once a pellet gun reaches 500 fps at the muzzle (and certain energy level) it is classed as a firearm

Yes If it is a pistol then it is classed restricted and can only be shot at a range. The same rules apply to it as any other pistol. If it is a rifle then it is non-restricted, but the same rules apply as if it was a rifle. Under 500 fps than it is not federally regulated
