Interesting to see that those of you who conceal carry your pistols are finding that a compact pocket pistol is a useful every day tool .... during my time in the military we often had to conceal carry but due to the liklihood of using the pistol most of us favoured what we trained with .... which back then was a 9mm Browning. I remember vividly how awkward these felt if tucked into the waistband under a pullover or shirt ... you used to get a chafed batch of skin from the hammer on your stomach and yes we used to carry them "cocked and locked" so there were other risks too !

We often said it was a long overdue issue that we should have a more compact but reliable pistol .... we had access to the Walther PPK's in .380 but allowing for use against people in vehicles we never really felt it suitable ... it got the name as a "disco gun" because that was how far down the ladder things had to get before we were prepared to carry them.

They also were not as relaible as we would have liked ... this was back in the mid 80's and the incident with Princess Anne's B/G having a jam with his still was "remembered" ....

Now we have compact SIG's in 9mm and these are a great pistol ... but having to shoot and train with a lot of different weapons I still feel that if I am shoving something in a pocket and want it to work all the time I prefer a compact revolver ... a shrouded S&W .38 sp B/G was my choice then and probably would still be today ...

Anyone have one of those or small .44 special ? The .44 special compacts are even better ...
