Randy, are they actual government MREs or commercially produced ones? If real government issue, the date on the package is the date of manufacture not the expiration date. If stored at the temperature you indicated, they would be good for about 5-10 years. So yours are kinda at the tail end of their usefulness. So you could try one but have your phone in your hand with the speed dial set for your local rescue. Probably not that bad though. If it were me I would just go ahead and taste one. But I also once teased a buffalo face to face.
