unfortunately in Canada we do not have any rights, we only have privileges
Most Canadians have never read let alone understand our Charter of rights.
Section 1 allows for "reasonable " infringement of our rights, then doesn't define what reasonable is (so the government and courts decide what is reasonable)
Section 33 also known as the not with standing clause allows the government (federal or provincial) to set aside a right for a period of up to five years (with no limit on the number of renewals)
And of course it specifically defines affirmative action as not being discriminatory

We don't even have the right to own private property in Canada
