I usually wear jeans and a camo jacket as outerwear. Only reason I wear my camo jacket is because it's warm and comfy, and not worried if I get it bloody or muddy. I don't put a lot of stock in the camo stuff. I killed a nice 8 pointer last year wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt and blue jeans.
Most of my gear is camo simply because that is what is mostly available around here. Personally I think most camp is designed to look good/cool to the people that buy it
