If you settle for something else you will probably regret it. I had a bonieville 750 (first street bike, first accident) and a shovelhead (worse piece o crap ever). However I will say all of the heritage classics I've road were very nice and my buddies fat bob (ugliest 3k paint job in creation)rides excellent
Only way I'll settle for less is if my finances say different. I'm gonna have a bike in the next year or so, and hopefully in the next couple months. But if it comes out to me buying a used $4k bike and paying cash for it, then so be it. At least I'll be back on two wheels again.
