I've been pretty lucky with mine. It is paid off and never needed anything other than standard maintenance.

Trouble is, standard maintenance on an older car is Timing belt and then oh, you might as well replace the hydraulic tensioner pully and the water pump. Save you labor cost later. But then of course you have a broken engine mount, but it won't cost you extra labor because it had to come off anyhow. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />
