gotta remember to set my hooks... haven't set a single one properly yet. even on the two fish I managed to land they jumped right off the hooks the second I got them on land. had a couple more but always got excited and forgot to set that hook..
If you can keep enough tension you might not need to always set it. When I was stationed out in Idaho, I fished several places where you could only use barbless hooks.
