It's a slow process to get a dog to get over fears. By the time Vickie had to have her amputation and chemo, she was great around most people. So good, in fact, that the specialty clinic that did her chemo would use her as a demo dog for folks wondering how their dog would respond to surgery or the chemo. I was very proud of her!
