Dad was in the Army in the 60's. He was blinded in one eye by a bb gun when he was younger, but still enlisted and served a hitch, plus spent 6 more years in the National Guard.

My dad graduated hs in 68. He was in the process of enlisting. Had talked to a recruiter and even had a appointment set up to go in and sign.
One or 2 weeks before that happened he rolled his car and lost his left hand. He was so mad at himself, he wanted to serve so badly. Might have been a blessing / cyurse..had he gone he might not have made it back and i wouldnt be here lol
