Morning Yard!

Well my theory on cell phone signals as a means of testing a faraday cage is busted. As long as I accept that a microwave is a reasonable faraday cage.

I was able to Bluetooth my phone while it was sealed in a microwave.

Being the inquisitive idiot that I am I started looking at the concept of a faraday cage.

Turns out there is a wide spectrum of what a faraday cage is and what it will block. A chain link fence, a car, airplane and concrete reinforced with rebar can all act as a type of faraday cage.

A lot is dependent on what you are trying to block. Obviously a car wont block cell phone signals but it will protect you from a lightning strike most of the time and not just because of the tires. Which until now I was convinced was a fact.

On the other hand a fine mesh will probably stop a cell phone signal but I'm not going to bet my life that it would stop a lightning strike.

Pretty much my redneck testing methods aren't going to cut it on this one.
