That's really cool, and explains how she ended up with YOU. smile A couple of years ago we found two baby meadowlarks along the base of our house, one was dead and the other was in rough shape. The General picked him up and brought him into the house and began nursing it back to health. She found that he liked moistened cat food and mashed up bananas with his water. She named him Irving and would take him into our garden while she was working in there and Irving learned to like worms. We would spend a lot of time sitting at our picnic table talking to Irving and he seemed to learn his name, or at least that particular sound. We could leave him in the garden and go to the picnic table, then call him and he would fly right to us. He stayed with us quite a while until at last the "call of the wild" got to him. He flew up to us while we were sitting on our deck as if to say good-bye, then flew off to the fields. He was one cute little character and we still miss him, but feel good that we gave him a good start to a good life.
