I saw this thing (Maybe on youtube) on a long pole. It had two sides and a bottom, and you stood on the ground, and shoved it UP your roof to remove snow, like digging a trench. On the handle end (a LONG handle) was a plastic mat rolled up. As you shoved it up your roof it unrolled as the snow slid down it and onto the ground.
I think I saw something like that. There is a real danger of damaging your roof if you rake it improperly.
