Wow, what a day. Was notified that my contract wasn't going to be renewed so I was looking at being unemployed for the first time in 39 years (22 in the military and 17 with my current company). Then an acquaintance of mine came by and asked if I had experience with a certain aircraft mission planning system. I told him I’ve been using that system for 4 years to help troubleshoot other problems. Then he told me he was quitting his job and moving out of state and I should talk to his supervisor ‘cause they were still looking for some to fill the job. And the new job pays a bit more than I’m making now. Did I mention his boss and I worked together before and have been friends for about 15 years?

I came home and we had a nice rain (our garden is growing like crazy) and when it cleared, there was perfect stillness. It was 65-70 degrees outside and the 2 acre lake on live on was like glass Then I noticed the swirls right beside my dock, bass feeding on the surface, my favorite time to fish.

I broke out my ultralight fishing rig and caught 7 bass in the ¾ -1.5 lb range in about 15 minutes. Then I move to our big lake. The little lake feeds our big lake which is about 17 acres. I walked the edge of the lake and was catching 1-2lbs bass with almost every cast for another 20 minutes. As it was getting dark, I told myself 5 more casts. Caught fish on casts one and two and then on cast five a 3-3.5 pounder.

All in all, not a bad day.
