We made the trip out to the Bitter Root National Forest parked our rigs and 5 of us went about 21 miles and then set up camp. We came by 24 hours later and some joker had punched a hole in the sidewall of every tire on all of our trailers, including the spares. They then put holes in all the truck tires. Apparently, they had a hard time with 2 of my tires since they are still holding air. We are 2 hour drive from any town and hour and a half away from cell phone service.
So I got one night and a full day of the trip before we had to limp into a town and get tires. I sealed up the trailer enough to get some new tires. Not what I wanted and way too much but Hamilton Mt doesn't have a bunch of choices and we were there 1 1/2 hours before they closed, so they did good by me. I was able to get the truck tires up enough to get my stuff from camp and drive home. I finally got home at around 6 am and got unloaded. Tomorrow morning I will head into a bigger town and replace at least 2 of my truck tires.
It pays to be a boyscout and be prepared. We had plugs, sealant and a healthy compressor.
I'm hoping insurance covers my truck tires but they aren't going to cover the trailer.
I will say the place we went was beautiful. I wished we could have finished the trip. But I wasn't going to take a chance on flat tires and 2 wild fires in the area.
