I agree Tom, when I was growing up all I remember was Case, Uncle Henrey, Buck, Old Timer and a few other knives geared towards hunters, fisherman, and blue collar workers. They werent fancy and were just made to cut and we actually used the heck out them.

Now it seems like its almost a status symbol for people to have expensive knives and they really dont use them. Just like $300.00 Yeti coolers when a simple $50.00 cooler would do the same thing. Usually younger folks with money buy them and show them off and take pictures of them posting them on facebook, instagram and the forums. The knives are usually brand new and never even cut an apple.

I like some expensive knives and have a few. I actually like to carry and use them. I still would like to get a Chris Reeves Umnumzaam but really cant justify paying almost $450.00. I do have some nice Benchmades, ZT, Hinderers, and Emersons that will fit the bill.
