I hate seeing the Scouts go PC, but is was bound to happen. Marbles and Western used to make the BSA fixed blades. Fixed blades are safer than folders to use. My old scout master carried a Ka-Bar, and when I was an Assistant Scoutmaster I carried an Air Force pilots survival knife on our camping trips, along with a machete, scout folder, and and axe. What do they do now, bake cookies?
camillus was the last manufacturer of the BSA knife. it is now bear and son. I carry a fixed blade on our troop camps but at the district camps I can't. I took the yaurd guard this weekend on a camp out with the boys. great knife.
i need a folder that can work like a fixed blade also so I can take it to the district functions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
